What is shockwave therapy?
Shockwave therapy (ESWT, FSWT) is a non-invasive physiotherapy method, applied over the skin, in which sound waves act on tendon and ligament tissue.
Which conditions is it used for?
- Heel spur — sharp heel pain with the first steps in the morning. More
- Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) — pain on the outer side of the elbow. More
- Golfer’s elbow (medial epicondylitis) — pain on the inner side of the elbow.
- Tendinitis — tendon inflammation around the shoulder, elbow, knee and ankle.
Its place in the treatment plan
In these conditions, shockwave therapy is used together with electrotherapy and specific exercises; local injections may be added when needed. The exact plan is decided after the consultation.
